Toshodai-ji Temple


"Tōshōdai-ji Temple (Japanese: 唐招提寺)" is Buddhist temple of the Ritsu sect (律宗) and it was founded by a Chinese priest named Ganjin (鑑真) during the Nara period (奈良時代) in the year 759 A.D. Ganjin was a blind Chinese monk hired by the newly empowered clans to travel in search of funding from private aristocrats. Toshodai-ji Temple was registered in World Heritage as "Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara" in 1998.
The buildings of Toshodai-ji Temple has "Golden Hall (金堂, Kon-do)", "Lecture Hall (講堂, Ko-do)", "Drum tower (鼓楼, Koro)", "Scripture House (経蔵, Kyo-zo)", "Treasure House (宝蔵, Ho-zo)", "Worship Hall (礼堂, Rai-do)", "Miei-do Hall (御影堂 (興福寺旧一乗院 宸殿、殿上及び玄関), Miei-do)", "Admonition platform (戒壇, Kaidan)" and "New Treasure House (新宝蔵, Shi-ho-zo)".
The public transportation facility to Toshodai-ji Temple are "Kintetsu railway (近鉄, Kintetsu)" or "Nara Kotsu Bus (奈良交通バス)". Toshodai-ji Temple closest station is "Kintetsu Nishi-no-kyo Station (近鉄 西ノ京駅)". It walks from the Kintetsu Nishi-no-kyo Station and about 10 minutes.
